Durante todo el curso 2011-2012, el IES Celestino Mutis empieza un nuevo Proyecto Comenius de dos años.

Se trata de un proyecto bilateral con un centro en Estambul, que se titula "mi ciudad es la tuya".

Consiste, a grandes rasgos, en la presentación al centro visitante de la ciudad donde habita. Pero este sencillo intercambio supone una gran riqueza de aprendizaje.

El objetivo es sensibilizar al alumnado sobre la diversidad cultural, que aprendan a reconocer la diversidad de culturas que se mezclan en su ciudad, que aprendan a reconocer los prejuicios que hay sobre las distintas culturas, que investiguen sobre otra cultura que parece muy diferente a la suya y comprueben que hay muchas similitudes.
Antes de la presentación de su ciudad, cada centro tiene que investigar su diversidad cultural, tanto actual como histórica, un proceso durante el cual conocerán de verdad su propia ciudad.

Se darán cuenta de los aspectos de su cultura y tradición que tienen sus raíces en otras culturas o lugares. Se darán cuenta que realmente en cada lugar, existe no una cultura sino una mezcla y fusión de ellas y que por tanto su propio entorno es muy diversa culturalmente. Al participar en el intercambio, ambos centros podrán apreciar tanto las diferencias como similitudes entre los dos.

Además de estos aspectos socio-culturales, como el proyecto se lleva a cabo en inglés es una gran oportunidad de utilizar un idioma distinto al castellano en un entorno real, con objetivos prácticos. También el proyecto tiene como objetivo la mejora de las habilidades para hablar en público y la tecnología, las dos siendo imprescindibles para la presentación de la ciudad y la comunicación entre los dos centros.


This academic year 2011-2012 sees the start of a new Comenius Project in the IES Celestino Mutis.

It is a bilingual project with a school in Istanbul, entitled "your city is mine". It consists, on a basic level, of the presentation by each centre, of it's city to the visiting school. But this simple exchange encompasses a range of rich learning experiences.
The objective is to make students aware of cultural diversity, recognise the diverse cultures present in their own city, learn to recognise the prejudices that exist towards different cultures, investigate a different culture to their own and find many similarities.  
Before presenting their city, each school has to research its cultural diversity, both current and historical, a process during which they will truly get to know their own city. They will become aware of the aspects of their culture which have their roots in other cultures or places. They will realize that in each place there exists, not one culture but a mixture and fusion of cultures, and therefore that their own environment es culturally diverse. On participating in the exchange, the two schools will be able to appreciate both the cultural differences and similarites between them.

In addition to these socio-cultural aspects, as the project is to be carried out in English it's a great opportunity for students to make use of a language other than Spanish in real circumstances and with practical objectives. The project also has as its objectives the improvement of public speaking skills and ICT proficiency, both being vital for the present of the city and the communication between the two schools.
